A week ago yesterday I had the unnerving experience of clicking the Amazon link to The Dire Deeds, one of my giddy little (well not so little) novels in The Guild of Ornamental Hermits series, and finding this:

I was taken aback, to be sure. And then clicked links to the other three: The Witching Work, The Queerest Quest, and The Perilous Past. The books, and the two short reads I also wrote for that series, Mele Kalikimaka, Ginger Croom and A Guild of Ornamental Hermits Solstice, could not be found anywhere, except as mentioned in my author page as A.R. Marsh (the name I used for them)

My novels are not self-published. All the writers contracted with my publisher are probably in the same situation. We are suddenly Ghost Writers, and our works are literary phantoms.

I can’t avoid sinister thoughts. Uppermost: does the fact that many of the writers in the publishing house catalog–plus the publishers themselves–are LGBTQIA+ have anything at all to do with the disappearance of the entire catalog? To quote a character in the granddaddy of all fantasy series, “We wonders, aye, we wonders.”

There are few words that can adequately express the emotional devastation and horror of this sudden demise of my work. I can not even order copies of my own books anymore!

Please send good thoughts for a speedy resolution for whatever turmoil created this terrible devastation. Thank you.
